Please reach us at vanessa@sekhemwellbeing.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
The studio is located at Trevissome Park, Chiverton Cross, Blackwater, Truro, TR4 8UN. Once you arrive on site, drive straight ahead to the end of the driveway/vehicle charging station. Then turn right.
Drive approx 50m past Mint House Interior Design (on your left) and the small cluster of white/stone buildings (on your right).
Sekhem Massage Therapy is the small 'eco box' style building on your right hand side (before Cornish Hideaways). There is ample free parking right next to the studio and across the site.
PLEASE NOTE - If the 'treatment in progress' sign is on the door when you arrive and the curtain is closed, please return to your car and wait. You will be welcomed in for your treatment as soon as the previous client has left.
To get the most from your massage, you will be required to remove some clothing before your treatment. Please be assured that screening is provided in order for you to undress/redress and move to and from the massage couch in privacy. A chair will also be provided. I understand that each of my clients has a different comfort level around undressing, and I want you to feel at ease throughout your treatment so please do let me know if you have any concerns.
You should undress to your comfort level. Depending on the treatment, some clients choose to undress completely, but you may choose to leave on pants or other clothing if you prefer. The studio will be kept warm, you will lie on a self heating blanket and your massage will increase blood flow around the body. All of these elements combined means your body temperature will likely be raised for a while after your massage. However, you may feel chilly once outside so I recommend wearing/bringing light comfortable layers of clothing to maintain that post massage glow and sense of relaxation for as long as possible. Residue from oils can stain some fabrics so take care when dressing. Hot towels are available to help remove any excess oil if needed.
Please do not wear muddy boots/shoes inside the studio.
When you first lie on the massage couch, you will be completely covered by a sheet, towels and blanket. During your treatment, only the area of skin that is being massaged at any one time will be exposed. Towels will be discreetly removed and re-positioned throughout to ensure you are warm and feel relaxed and secure at all times.
Our little studio provides the perfect space for relaxing treatments. However, due to the cosy dimensions, there are no client toilets or shower facilities on site. Therefore, please ensure that you arrive showered and ready for your treatment and have used the bathroom before you leave home. You will be offered a hot towel to remove any excess oils before dressing if required.
Payment is required in full at the end of your treatment.
You are welcome to pay by cash, gift voucher or electronic payment. For electronic payments, you can choose to pay via instant payment link. Alternatively, I use 'Square' to process 'tap and pay' transactions using a mobile device.
Some clients prefer to pay for their treatment in advance to avoid unnecessary delay or disruption at the end of their appointment. Please email me vanessa@sekhemwellbeing.com to arrange if this is your preference.
It is important for you to let your therapist know in advance if you are feeling unwell or are recovering from an illness, health condition or are injured. This is to prevent further harm or worsening of your condition and to reduce risk to others.
Please do not attend your appointment if you are feeling unwell, especially if you have been suffering from or caring for someone experiencing vomiting/diarrhea within the 48hrs prior to your treatment.
All sheets, towels, disposable face rest covers etc are changed in between appointments and replaced with freshly laundered/new ones for each client. Hot towels are sterilised. My hands are washed/sanitised between treatments. Fresh oil is used for every massage. All clients are asked to declare any illness or health conditions prior to receiving treatment and will not be treated if there is risk of infection or cross contamination to others.
Yes, I am CIBTAC and VTCT accredited and fully insured so you can be confident that you will receive a high quality, safe and hygienic treatment.
Please give 48 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling where possible. If you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment or do not show up, you will be charged the full price of the session.
When you arrive you will receive a warm welcome from me! We'll spend the first few minutes carrying out a brief consultation during which time you can tell me more about your general health and well-being and we can discuss the kind of massage approach you feel you need.
After that, you will be asked to undress and lie on the massage couch under the covers, while I wait behind a privacy screen. The studio is comfortable, softly lit and lightly scented with candles and aromatherapy oils to enhance your experience. Unless you request otherwise, I will play some gentle background music to help ease you into a deep state of relaxation.
When you tell me you are ready, your chosen treatment will begin.
During your treatment, you will lie on a self heating mat for your comfort. Areas of skin that are not being massaged at any given time will remain covered. Depending on your treatment, you may be asked to change positions, lift or move your limbs and turn over. Otherwise, we will typically not talk until your treatment is complete.
Once your treatment is complete, you will be left alone for a couple of minutes until you feel ready to sit up and get dressed. Complimentary water and herbal teas are available should you feel thirsty following your treatment.
